Harpsichord
I am new to this place,
Woke up with my face in the sand,
I got a notion of beauty last night,
That only my hands remember,
And it left stones in pants,
And grit in my teeth,
I got an assumption of sleep that will never come,
Slumber never meets me.
My limbs are loose,
My mind unfocused,
Undistinguished bruises,
I barely notice,
I’m searching my body for clues,
As to who this was.
Because your name will give me nothing
When the notion of you still lies on my lips x2
Basic terms, fulfill their short lived purposes,
As my night renews the sky for the day,
The meaning of words disperses,
Like your name.
Seagulls swing on the wind without care,
Stealing their breakfasts,
There as unaware as I of the rules we break,
Unaware of I as I smile, and wave,
This freedom of being is a gold in abundance.
Though a smile don’t pay for nothing these days,
At least that’s what my daddy told me,
At least that’s what the sad man say.
your name will give me nothing
When the notion of you still lies on my lips x2
Basic terms, fulfill their short lived purposes,
As my night renews the sky for the day,
The meaning of words disperses,
Like your name.
I walk this earth not knowing why,
My search for knowledge a trivial quest.
If it brings me a grin then I’ll do my best,
At least that’s what this happy girl says.
And though I don’t remember your name,
It does nothing to take away from the claim,
That you were an instance,
A gold in abundance,
A smile that graced,
The frown on my face.
